At Home Water Storage and Purification

If an earthquake, hurricane, winter storm, or other disaster occurs in your community, you may not be able to access food, water, and electricity for days or even weeks. By allocating some time now to store food and emergency water supplies, you can provide them for your family. This is not an exaggeration from the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Red Cross, he will tell you this.

When preparing for survival disasters remember rule 3.

* 3 minutes without air
* 3 days without water
* 3 weeks without food

This is usually how long you can survive with these three. We will talk about different ways to purify water in any environment. Whether it's in your home or stranded in the wild.

Providing adequate clean water is a top priority in emergencies. An active person usually needs to drink at least two water a day. Hot environments can double that amount. Children, nursing mothers and patients will need more. You will also need water to prepare food and hygiene.

If supplies are low, do not cut off the water. You can reduce the amount of water your body needs by reducing activity and staying calm.

Store water safely

* Store at least two weeks for each person.
* Collect water from a safe supply.
* Fully washed plastic containers such as soft drinks bottles are the best. You can also buy buckets or plastic drums with a food grade.
* Seal containers tightly, label with date, store in cold and dark place.
* Replace water every six months.
* Do not reuse a container containing toxic substances such as pesticides, solvents, chemicals, oil or antifreeze.
* Water Purification

There are two basic ways to treat water: boiling and adding bleach. If the tap water is unsafe due to pollution (from floods or streams or lakes), boiling is the best way.

Water Filtering

Filter the cloudy water before boiling or add bleach.
Water filters can also be purchased.
However, you can filter water using coffee filters,
Paper towels or a cloth of cheese or lumbar plug in the funnel.

Boiling-
Boiling is the safest way to purify water. Boil water for 3 to 5 minutes, keeping in mind that some water will evaporate. Let the water cool down before drinking. The boiling water will taste better if the oxygen is prepared by pouring water back and forth between two clean containers.

* Bring the water to boiling for 3-5 minutes.
* Leave water cooled before drinking.

Purify by adding liquid chlorine
You can use liquid bleach to kill domestic microorganisms. Use only normal household bleach containing 5.25% sodium hypochlorite. Do not use scented bleach, colored candida or candida with additional detergents. Add 16 drops of bleach per gallon of water, then stir for 30 minutes.

If the water does not contain a slight bleach odor, repeat the dose and leave another 15 minutes. The only agent used for water purification should be the household liquid bleach.

Other chemicals, such as iodine treatment products, water sold in camps or surplus stores that do not contain sodium hypochlorite, are not recommended as 5.25% as the only active ingredient, and should not be used.
